The pressure gauge can tell you the pressure at the outdoor tap if the water is not flowing. It can then tell you the back-pressure in the system when you are operating FLOW GOLD.
If you do not understand fluid dynamics you may believe higher pressure is better. This is a myth. We need the lowest pressure possible to achieve the flow-rate we need. The higher the pressure at the pump, the lower the flow-rate from a pump.
